Six dive from the sky for PMC's chosen charity
On 6 September 2009, six PMC personnel will take a courageous step and jump from a perfectly serviceable aircraft to raise funds for PMC’s chosen charity Adoption UK.
The adventurous six are Mike Gerrard and Zea Endacott-Lockhart from PMC’s Testing Department, Stacey Church from Recruitment, Nicky Tombs from Finance, James Humphreys from Technical Services, and PMC’s Director of Consulting and Professional Services Jonathan Eales.
Mike Gerrard states: “A couple of us have limited parachuting experience but this is a daunting prospect for all involved. We are all genuinely scared and somewhat apprehensive. Indeed, some of us are wondering why we decided to join the team at all. Even so, we are all excited by the challenge and look forward to raising money for Adoption UK.”
The jumps will take place at RAF Weston on the Green. Mike will make an accelerated freefall jump, which requires a full day’s training in the basics of skydiving. Although he will jump solo, Mike will have two instructors jumping with him guiding him through helmet radios. Zea, Stacey, Nicky, James and Jonathan will all make tandem skydives attached to a qualified skydive instructor. All will jump from 10,000 feet, freefall for 40-45 seconds and deploy their parachutes at 5,000 feet.
Paul Mason, CEO, PMC states: “Michael and the team have has set themselves a serious challenge to raise money for Adoption UK, and we all wish him the best of luck. The personal courage involved in jumping from an aircraft is considerable. Too often corporate sponsorship is directed at the most newsworthy rather than the most worthy. I am a firm believer in providing ‘sponsorship that counts’ that’s why PMC is committed to helping Adoption UK.”
Jonathan Pearce, Adoption UK’s Director adds: “Fundraising support such as this from PMC helps Adoption UK provide practical support to adoptive families struggling to parent neglected and abused children adopted from the care system.”
